Precautions for Using Electric Heating Steam Retorts
2025-09-17
For safety valves, you must use the safety valves configured by the company and already designated for use; do not adjust them yourself.
During operation, the retort should be regularly monitored for changes in the temperature of the heat-transfer oil. Under normal circumstances, the heat-transfer oil must not exceed 150℃ (controlled by the electrical control box). Adjust the temperature appropriately and pay close attention to any changes. When operating at temperatures exceeding 150℃, be sure to closely monitor the oil temperature and pressure, and take all necessary safety precautions.
After the vertical retort heats the material to the desired temperature, the material is discharged from the bottom of the retort.
Before each shift, lubricate all rotating parts of this equipment; also, check whether the electric heating rods are damaged. For the stirring-type retort, it is recommended to use refined vegetable oil for components on the retort’s surface, while other areas should be lubricated with 30# to 40# mechanical oil.
After use, first disconnect the power supply and immediately add tap water into the retort to protect the heating element and extend its service life.
When adding thermal oil, it is recommended to use thermal oil with a boiling point of 320°C. This will help quickly raise the oil temperature and improve work efficiency. Before adding oil, first block the oil drain port. The ideal oil level should be about 4–5 cm below the overflow port. Then, before heating, seal one side of the overflow port with a valve, while connecting a conduit to the other side to direct any excess thermal oil that may flow out during heating into a separate container. You can seal the valve only after using the system 4–5 times. (Since the quality of thermal oil varies from place to place, if you notice significant leakage when you first start using it, before your next use, pour some of the oil back into the retort jacket. After several cycles, the leakage should stabilize.)
